Fire Protection Engineer Details  

Superior Fire Inc. is currently seeking a Fire Protection Engineer at our Oxnard location to join our organization. This person will be responsible for the design of installation drawings of sprinkler systems for commercial, residential and government facilities in the Southern California area. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing detailed engineering drawings
  • Keeping communication with clients
  • Keeping communication with fire departments

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in code consulting, computer modeling, risk management, fire alarm, sprinkler and smoke control system design
  • Additional experience in developing performance based strategies in a project design environment.
  • FPE degree or engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, chemical) with fire protection engineering industry experience welcome.
  • Be able to manage multiple projects immediately, including developing proposals, project planning, staffing, monitoring and successful delivering of projects.
  • Developing client relationships and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Must have experience with ICC (IBC, IFC) model building codes and NFPA 13, 72, etc.

Required education:

Associates Degree in related field

Works sites will be based primarily in Los Angeles county, secondary will be all the rest of Southern California such as Ventura, Orange, Santa Maria and San Diego counties.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Installation of overhead wet-pipe fire sprinkler systems
* Small amount of Installation of underground fire lines and all related apparatuses
* Run new projects and complete systems on time and correctly
* Installation of new systems, retro-fits, Tennant Improvements, and Residential Dwellings
* Knowledgeable of NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, & 25
* Knowledgeable in the installation of Steel pipe, CPVC, C-900 & ductile iron piping
* Prepare installations by reviewing installation orders; gathering equipment, supplies, and tools; coordinating schedules with customers

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and understanding of how to read architectural and fire sprinkler plans
oral communication skills (English and Spanish preferred)

Project Manager Details 

Superior Fire, Inc. currently has an opening in the Ventura County region for fire Sprinkler/Suppression Project Managers. This individual will coordinate, and manage fire suppression projects for commercial, industrial, Government, and residential buildings. This person will have responsibility for the initial planning of a project including scheduling of time, creating material stock listings, analyzing changes, and solving problems.

The Project Manager holds overall management responsibility for all aspects of fire protection construction projects. He/She will oversee or conduct scheduling, planning, expediting, inspection, quality control, and total delivery of the project according to established criteria. He/She is responsible for tracking, forecasting, and communicating all costs, profits, and financial measures of the project.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee installation of overhead wet-pipe fire sprinkler systems, dry-pipe and pre-action systems, underground fire lines and all related apparatuses and new systems, retro-fits, Tennant Improvements, and Residential Dwellings
  • Report to owner and general contractor about progress and necessary modifications.
  • Maintain customer rapport by resolving concerns; answering questions
  • Use of analytical thinking and problem solving to determine construction feasibility and possibilities
  • Assist the Superintendent in preparing and updating the project’s master schedule.
  • Inform all trade contractors and home office on the status of the master schedule and provide a two-week look ahead of future work.
  • Supervise any laborers and work with the Assistant Superintendent to accomplish daily task.
  • Forecast future manpower requirements
  • Identify change orders that will impact cost, schedule or labor requirements.
  • Ensure work complies with codes and permits
  • Ability to develop and maintain ongoing relationships with subs and generals

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-8 years of experience in Fire Protection Construction in supervisory role
  • Construction Management degree or applicable other degree from a technical school or college or equal experience is a plus.
  • Language Skills – Ability to read, write, interpret and analyze business publications, technical procedures and government regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present to groups of people including employees, vendors, and the general public.
  • Ability to write and interpret reports, correspondence, and manuals.
  • Reasoning Skills – Ability to solve problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only general guidelines exist. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
